Students are adults and must schedule their own appointments. However, an SCC counselor can help you figure out how to talk with your student about your concerns and, 当表示, encourage scheduling an appointment at the SCC.

如何谈论你的担忧

The 学生辅导中心 joins the rest of the SPU community in expressing our grief, sorrow and compassion to all who have been, 并将继续, impacted by the race-based violence occurring across our nation. These violent incidents reflect a longstanding and entrenched history of structural and systemic injustice that we condemn and are dedicated to addressing. While these tragedies can be traumatizing for all of us, we recognize that they may be especially painful and injurious to members of our community who identify as Black or African-American. In the aftermath of experiencing or witnessing trauma, it is normal to experience a range of feelings and emotions, 比如休克, fear, sadness, anger, 无助和/或内疚. 作为心理健康服务, the SCC is committed to affirming and providing support for all of our students who have been directly or vicariously impacted by experiences of racism, 歧视, 偏见, bigotry, 成见和/或暴力. We encourage you to contact our office if you (or someone you know) would like support with processing and coping with recent and/or past experiences of trauma or any other mental or emotional health concerns.
